Softball Recap: American Takes a Loss

American entered their matchup against Somerset Academy on Monday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The American Patriots fell just short of the Somerset Academy Panthers by a score of 2-1.

Jamerikal Darden spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on eight hits and racked up seven Ks. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in strikeouts.

American's defeat dropped their record down to 8-5. As for Somerset Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-4-1 record this season.

Similarly, Somerset Academy will square off against Palmetto at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday up 217 places (99 vs. 316). American is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.8 runs per game this season.
