Softball Recap: Red Mountain Comes Up Short

Red Mountain came into this matchup off a tough eight-run loss last Thursday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Corona del Sol Aztecs by a score of 9-7 on Saturday. The Mountain Lions have struggled against the Aztecs recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meetings.

Red Mountain saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nina Montenegro, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI Montenegro has posted since back in April of 2024. Another was Chloe Ftizpatrick, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Red Mountain's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2-1. As for Corona del Sol, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1.

Red Mountain didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 4-1 win against Chaparral on the 1st. As for Corona del Sol, they have also already played their next contest, a 14-2 loss against Queen Creek on the 1st.
