Basketball Recap: Sankofa Freedom Academy Beats Wings Academy for Their Fourth Straight Win

Wings Academy came into Saturday's game looking for another win against Sankofa Freedom Academy, but Asim Hardy wouldn't allow it. The Sankofa Freedom Academy Warriors snuck past the Wings Academy Wings with a 65-59 victory on Saturday thanks in part to Hardy, who went 9 for 12 on his way to 25 points. Those 25 points gave him a new career-high.

Nasir Brown was another key player, putting up eight points. He has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times he's played.

Despite the defeat, Wings Academy had strong showings from Rushawn Greene, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten assists, and Kamrin Kendall, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Emmanuel Nieves, who posted ten points.

The win was the fourth in a row for Sankofa Freedom Academy, bringing their record for this year to 11-7. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.3 points per game. As for Wings Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-9 record this season.

Sankofa Freedom Academy has already played their next contest, a 72-53 loss against Samuel Fels on the 27th. As for Wings Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 74-51 defeat against Brandeis on the 28th.
