Section 1 A - 1 recap October 1, 2013
Greeley moved up to 232 from 362 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Section 1 A - 1. The Quakers climbed the ranks as a result of besting Harrison 21-15.
Tappan Zee was the team that made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from ninth to fifth in the league. Earlier in the week, the Dutchmen triumphed over Yorktown 34-33.
Ryan Baker was the best running back in the league this week. In 10 carries, he ran for 105 yards as the Huskers bested Lakeland. Nicky Bonitatibus also contributed to the rushing game with 41 yards on the ground.
The leading receiver in the league this season is Jarrett Gilleo. The Peekskill star has 8 catches for 241 yards.
Two of the top teams in Section 1 A - 1 will go toe-to-toe this week when Yorktown takes on Greeley. Mike Rescigno's team's offense has racked up 119 points this season, earning them the top spot in the league, while William Tribou's team has allowed only 25 on the year.
The Huskers are in sixth place, while the Quakers are in second place.
Adding to the longest winning streak in the league this week, John Jay beat Saunders Trades & Tech 41-6. The win marks fourth in a row for the the Indians.
