Softball Game Preview: Fisher Catholic Irish vs. Grove City Christian Eagles

Fisher Catholic is 8-2 against Grove City Christian since April of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Irish will welcome the Eagles at 5:15 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Grove City Christian will be up against a hot Fisher Catholic team: the squad just extended their winning streak to six. The Irish blew past Wellington School 18-1 on Wednesday.

Olivia Haynes was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Mallory Stanton was a standout: she got on base in all five of her plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Vanessa Funk, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI.

Fisher Catholic was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .696. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .304 or higher in six consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Grove City Christian made easy work of Harvest Prep on Wednesday and carried off a 17-4 win.

Fisher Catholic pushed their record up to 6-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.0 runs over those games. As for Grove City Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 4-6.

Fisher Catholic beat Grove City Christian 15-10 when the teams last played on Tuesday. Do the Irish have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
