Basketball Game Preview: Griffith Panthers vs. Kankakee Valley Kougars

Griffith hasn't had much luck against Kankakee Valley recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Panthers will host the Kougars at 1:00 p.m.

On Thursday, Griffith was beaten by Munster 53-22.

Meanwhile, Kankakee Valley waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with 12 straight wins... but they left with 13. They enjoyed a cozy 39-25 victory over the Fighting 59ers. Given the Kougars' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 63rd, while the Fighting 59ers are ranked 208th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Kankakee Valley's win came from a few key players that Griffith will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jenna Walker, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and ten boards. That's the most rebounds she has posted since back in November of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Adams, who had eight points and five boards.

Kankakee Valley's win bumped their record up to 16-3. As for Griffith, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-9.

Griffith took a serious blow against Kankakee Valley when the teams last played back in January of 2017, falling 69-36. Thankfully for the Panthers, Lindsey Stokes (who went 9-for-15 to rack up 22 points along with seven rebounds and five steals) won't be suiting up this time.
