Soccer Game Preview: Eastern Montgomery vs. Marion

The Eastern Montgomery Mustangs will square off against the Marion Scarlet Hurricanes at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Eastern Montgomery has nine straight victories, Marion has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the pitch.

Eastern Montgomery is headed in fresh off scoring the most goals they have all season. They never let Craig County get on the board and left with a 10-0 win on Tuesday. Eastern Montgomery's defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last seven games.

Meanwhile, Marion lost 7-1 to Graham on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Marion can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 189th, while Graham are ranked 47th).

Eastern Montgomery pushed their record up to 9-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those four matches. As for Marion, they now have a losing record of 4-5.
