Baseball Recap: Heritage Christian Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

Heritage Christian never let their opponents score on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 13-0 margin over the Purdue Polytechnic Techies. That looming 13-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Eagles yet this season.

Carson Wilhite was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Utzig, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Heritage Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.

The win (which was Heritage Christian's fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-2. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Purdue Polytechnic, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 5-3.

Coming up, Heritage Christian will face off against Indy Genesis HomeSchool at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Eagles 3.9, the Indy Genesis 2.4) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Purdue Polytechnic, they will square off against Knightstown at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Panthers' pitching crew has only allowed 2.4 runs per game this season, so the Techies' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
