Valencia piles up the points against Santa Teresa

There's no place like home for the Valencia Jaguars, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Thursday. They took their game at home on Saturday with ease, bagging a 54-17 win over Santa Teresa. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 41-5.

Valencia was led to victory by Azalia Malizia and Jadyn Montoya. Malizia scored 20 points, while Montoya scored 22 points. That makes it five consecutive games in which Montoya has scored at least a third of Valencia's points. Another player making a difference was Eden Montgomery, who scored nine points.

Valencia's victory bumped their record up to 10-7. As for Santa Teresa, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-11.

Valencia will head out on the road to face off against Grants at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Grants will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New Mexico Rankings (they are ranked 97th, while Valencia is ranked 24th). As for Santa Teresa, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Cobre at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cobre has now lost ten straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 2.
