Manzano lost against Sandia back in March of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Monarchs came up short against the Matadors, falling 12-2. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Manzano saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bryce Walter, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Manzano has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season. As for Sandia, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 15-3.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Matadors beat Manzano by a score of 13-11 later that day.
