At the plate, Ballston Spa let Nate Hill and James Haughton run wild. Hill went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Haughton got on base in three of his six plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two runs gave Hill a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Nick Commisso, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Ballston Spa kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Guilderland only managed six hits.
Meanwhile, Shenendehowa never let their opponents score on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake as they made off with a 12-0 victory. The Plainsmen haven't had any issues with the Spartans recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Maximus Palermo tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched.
On the hitting side, Aiden Thielke was a standout: he went 2-for-5 with three runs and three RBI. Those RBI were his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Maxwell Jones, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Ballston Spa's victory bumped their record up to 11-2. As for Shenendehowa, their win bumped their record up to 9-4.
Ballston Spa's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's matchup. The Scotties have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game.
