Basketball Recap: Salem Baptist Christian Takes a Loss

Salem Baptist Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat. They were dealt a 55-21 loss at the hands of the Hickory Christian Academy Knights. The Vikings were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Knights apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2021.

Despite the loss, Salem Baptist Christian had strong showings from Ashley Sanchez, who posted six points, and Danae Davenport, who scored six points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Hickory Christian Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Cece Dechellis, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 16 boards. The dominant performance also gave Dechellis a new career-high in steals (three). Another player making a difference was Kara Whitford, who put up 13 points and eight steals.

Salem Baptist Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 0-10. As for Hickory Christian Academy, their victory ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-10.

Salem Baptist Christian didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, an 18-8 loss against Varsity Opponent on the 28th. Hickory Christian Academy has also already played their next matchup, a 56-13 defeat against Liberty Preparatory Christian Academy on the 27th.
