Baseball Recap: Abbeville Snaps 11-Game Streak of Losses at Home

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Houston County, Abbeville was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They came out on top against the Emmanuel Christian Warriors by a score of 12-7. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Yellowjackets considering their one-run performance the match before.

Zadarayal Thomas was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits. Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. That home run marked the first that he launched this season.

In other batting news, Alec Spann was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing two bases while going 4-for-4. Abbeville is 2-1 when Spann posts two or more stolen bases, but 1-9 otherwise. Collin Brown was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Abbeville's win ended an 11-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-10. As for Emmanuel Christian, they are on a 12-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-13.

As of now, neither Abbeville nor the Warriors have any future games scheduled.
