Soccer Game Preview: Marvin Ridge vs. Covenant Day

The Marvin Ridge Mavericks are taking a road trip to take on the Covenant Day Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Marvin Ridge's last six contests have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Marvin Ridge is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of North Carolina's top teams: Providence Day, who was ranked first at the time (Marvin Ridge was ranked ninth). The two teams finished up on equal footing with a 1-1 draw on Tuesday.

Marvin Ridge's goal came courtesy of Lucy Chin, who's now up to six this season.

Meanwhile, Covenant Day put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their undefeated season alive. They came within a single goal of losing the streak, but they secured a 1-0 W against Davidson Day.

Covenant Day's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-0-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those four matches. Marvin Ridge's draw gives them a new season record of 5-1-3.
