Softball Recap: Calaveras Wins Going Away Against Linden

With a playoff win on the line, Calaveras rose to the challenge on Friday. They blew past the Linden Lions 13-0. The Red Hawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by six runs or more this season.

Not much got past Kamryn Thornburg, who gave up just two hits to keep Linden off the board. Thornburg has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Emma Clark, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April. Carlee Jasper was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

Calaveras was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Linden only posted a batting average of .167.

Calaveras has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-7-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. As for Linden, their defeat ended a ten-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 18-7.

Calaveras wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 2-1 win against Livingston on the 20th. Linden does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
