Softball Game Preview: Casa Grande Gauchos vs. Livermore Cowboys

The Casa Grande Gauchos will challenge the Livermore Cowboys at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Casa Grande comes in on 11 and Livermore on six.

Casa Grande is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They had just enough and edged out San Ramon Valley 3-2. That's two games straight that the Gauchos have won by just one run.

Lila Partridge spent all nine innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on eight hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.

Meanwhile, Livermore posted their closest win since April 22nd on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 victory over Alameda.

Livermore also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Kaci Norton gave up four earned runs on eight hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Sophia Gerochi, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Casa Grande pushed their record up to 21-5-1 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.4 runs over those games. As for Livermore, their win bumped their record up to 19-8.

Wednesday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Casa Grande hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .326. However, it's not like Livermore struggles in that department as they've averaged .341. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
