Softball Game Preview: Capistrano Valley Cougars vs. Mission Viejo Diablos

The Capistrano Valley Cougars will venture away from home to square off against the Mission Viejo Diablos at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Capistrano Valley gave up the first runs on Thursday, but they didn't let that get them down. They had just enough and edged out Aliso Niguel 5-3. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Cougars.

Capistrano Valley let Samantha Kelly and Micayla Turi run wild. Kelly went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI, while Turi went 2-for-4 with three runs. That's the most runs Turi has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Addison Day, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Capistrano Valley hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in four consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Mission Viejo, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. They came out on top against Dana Hills by a score of 6-1 last Friday. The Diablos haven't had any issues with the Dolphins recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Capistrano Valley's record is now 12-10. As for Mission Viejo, the victory got them back to even at 11-11.

Capistrano Valley couldn't quite get it done against Mission Viejo in their previous matchup back in March as they fell 5-0. Can the Cougars avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
