Basketball Recap: Natalie Haines' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Pymatuning Valley over Grand Valley

Pymatuning Valley was the 61-55 winner over Grand Valley when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Lakers received a blow on Thursday as they fell 53-38 to the Mustangs.

Pymatuning Valley's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Natalie Haines, who posted 13 points along with five boards and three steals. The Lakers are 2-1 when Haines posts three or more steals, but 1-3 otherwise. Eralyn Lockwood was another key player, putting up four points and four steals.

Pymatuning Valley now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Grand Valley, they pushed their record up to 4-0 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.

Coincidentally, Pymatuning Valley and Grand Valley will both be playing Mathews the next time they take the court. The Lakers will host the Mustangs at 11:45 a.m. on Saturday, while the Mustangs will host them at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
