Basketball Recap: Cason Amerson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Corinth Christian Academy over Westwood Christian

Corinth Christian Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a 59-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Westwood Christian Warriors. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against Corinth Christian Academy this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 62-44 last Monday.

Corinth Christian Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cason Amerson, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds. Justin Fowler was another key player, putting up 13 points and five steals.

Tripp Kirkland continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Westwood Christian, dropping a double-double on 17 points and 15 boards. Kirkland is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down ten or more in the last 12 games he's played. Another player making a difference was Avery Thomas, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 13 boards.

Corinth Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 6-15. As for Westwood Christian, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-4.

Corinth Christian Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Westwood Christian, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Varsity Opponent at 7:00 p.m. on February 20th. Westwood Christian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.8 points per game this season.
