Recap: Axtell Eagles vs. Pawnee City Indians
Even though the Pawnee City Indians scored an imposing 57 points on Tuesday, the Axtell Eagles still came out on top. Axtell secured a 61-57 W over Pawnee City. That's another feather in the cap for Axtell, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
When it comes to explaining why Pawnee City lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jett Farwell. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 22 points and 13 rebounds. Oscar Machini was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Axtell has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-2 record this season. As for Pawnee City, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-10.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Axtell will take on Washington County on Friday. The timing isn't great for Washington County: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while Axtell has snatched up five consecutive wins on the road dating back to last season. Pawnee City is on the road again on Thursday and plays Palmyra at 7:30 p.m. on February 8th. Pawnee City is facing Palmyra at the right time seeing as Palmyra is stuck on a nine-game losing streak.
