Basketball Recap: Monrovia Skates Past Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter with Ease

Monrovia had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 41.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter Raiders 65-25. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 132nd, while the Raiders are ranked 313th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Monrovia's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zoie Walls, who went 6 for 12 en route to 14 points in addition to seven rebounds and five steals. Walls has been hot, having posted four or more steals the last seven times she's played. Another player making a difference was Emery Newlin, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine steals.

Monrovia was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter only posted four assists.

Despite the loss, Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter saw an underclassman step up: freshman Lilly Butler posted ten points and seven boards.

Monrovia is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a massive bump to their 13-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.4 points per game. As for Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter, they dropped their record down to 8-11 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home.
