Softball Recap: Seneca Valley Raiders vs. Hempfield Area Spartans

Seneca Valley fell victim to Hempfield Area and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They fell just short of the Spartans by a score of 1-0. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Lexie Hames put in work no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in ten consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Hames wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Bella Gross, who went 3-for-4 with one double.
