Recap: Anson Tigers vs. Abilene Christian Panthers
After a string of five wins, the Anson Tigers's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They had to suffer through a rough 72-31 loss at the hands of Abilene Christian. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Anson came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 58th, while Abilene Christian is ranked 1080th).
Bryinn Waggoner continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Abilene Christian, dropping a triple-double on 23 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 assists. That makes it three consecutive games in which Waggoner has scored at least 25% of Abilene Christian's points. Will Camp was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with 4 steals.
Anson's defeat dropped their record down to 5-1. As for Abilene Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 3-5.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Huckabay the next time they take the court. Abilene Christian will head out to face Huckabay at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, while Anson will head out to face them at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
