Baseball Recap: Rio Hondo Comes Up Short

Rio Hondo entered their contest against Non Varsity Opponent on Monday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Rio Hondo Bobcats fell just short of Non Varsity Opponent by a score of 5-4. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against Non Varsity Opponent this season, with their most recent loss being a 7-5 defeat last Friday.

Rio Hondo got a good showing from Adrian Betancourt, who tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the fewest hits Betancourt has allowed since back in February of 2024.

On the hitting side, Aidyn Flores made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Juan Padilla, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Rio Hondo's defeat dropped their record down to 11-4.

Looking ahead, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Rio Hondo Bobcats take on La Villa Cardinals at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday. Non Varsity Opponent has already played their next matchup (against Martin Luther King Jr. Magnet), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
