Basketball Recap: Janilla Hanson Key Part of a Team Effort in Beavers Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Norwich RVT, Cheney Tech was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 36-20 victory over the Goodwin RVT Gladiators. The Beavers pushed the score to 34-14 by the end of the third, a deficit the Gladiators cut but never quite recovered from.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cheney Tech to victory, but perhaps none more so than Janilla Hanson, who posted five points in addition to 14 boards and four steals. With that strong performance, Hanson is now averaging an impressive 2.2 steals per game. Another player making a difference was Trinity Hazel, who put up nine points in addition to five assists and three steals.

Cheney Tech smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in six consecutive contests.

The win was their first at home , bumping their record up to 2-5. As for Goodwin RVT, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-5.

Cheney Tech will host Hartford Magnet Trinity College Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Goodwin RVT, they will venture away from home to take on Abbott RVT at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
