Basketball Recap: Lake City Community Takes a Loss

Lake City Community was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 15th straight defeat dating back to last season. They fell 49-38 to the Antonito Trojans. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Trojans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 44-36 back in January.

Despite the loss, Lake City Community saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Levi Hartman went 7-for-10 on his way to 14 points and seven boards. Another player making a difference was Daniel Hays, who posted ten points.

Antonito got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Octavian Martinez out in front who put up 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew Mascarenes, who earned 14 points.

Lake City Community's defeat dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Antonito, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-10.

Lake City Community wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 65-40 loss against Centennial on the 15th. As for Antonito, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 51-28 defeat against Sangre de Cristo on the 15th.
