Basketball Recap: Ella Derossett's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Flanagan/Woodland over Henry-Senachwine

            Basketball Recap: Flanagan/Woodland Falcons vs. Henry-Senachwine Mallards        
        
		
        
        
            After flying high against Hinckley-Big Rock  last Friday, Flanagan/Woodland came back down to earth. The Flanagan/Woodland Falcons lost to the Henry-Senachwine Mallards on the road  by a   43-27 margin on Saturday. The Falcons were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mallards apparently hadn't forgotten their  defeat the last time these teams played  back in December of 2022.
Several Falcons players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was   Ella Derossett, who  posted 11  points. That was a full 40.7% of Flanagan/Woodland's points, marking the tenth time in a row she's   had  more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of  Aubry Edens, who  earned two points along with nine  rebounds and three  steals.

 Even though they lost, Flanagan/Woodland  smashed the offensive glass and  finished the game with ten  offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now  pulled down at least ten  offensive boards in three consecutive  matchups.
  Kaitlyn Anderson was  her usual excellent self,  dropping  a double-double on 16  points and 11  boards for Henry-Senachwine. Anderson has been hot, having also posted two or more  steals the last seven times she's  played. Another player making a difference was  Lauren Harbison, who  put up nine points in addition to six  rebounds and four  steals.
Flanagan/Woodland's loss dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Henry-Senachwine, the  win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-10.
 Flanagan/Woodland will get a bit of extra time to process the  defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Princeville at 5:30  p.m.  on January 9th. As for Henry-Senachwine, they will face off against Putnam County at 6:00  p.m.  on January 6th.
