Preview: Lakota East Thunderhawks vs. Hamilton Big Blue

The Lakota East Thunderhawks will be playing at home against the Hamilton Big Blue at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The timing is sure in Lakota East's favor as the squad sits on three straight wins at home while Hamilton has been banged up by 17 consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.

Last Monday, Lakota East came up short against Winton Woods and fell 45-36. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Lakota East has scored all season.

Lakota East's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Katlyn Pham, who scored eight points along with three steals, and Celina Blount who scored ten points along with five rebounds. Pham is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last three games she's played.

While Hamilton couldn't quite beat Harrison on Monday, the three-point margin was a huge improvement compared to the 28-point loss they were dealt on Wednesday. Hamilton fell just short of Harrison by a score of 53-50. While losing is never fun, Hamilton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 540th, while Harrison is ranked 124th).

Lakota East's defeat dropped their record down to 13-7. As for Hamilton, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost 13 of their last 14 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-17 record this season.

Everything came up roses for Lakota East against Hamilton in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 as the team secured a 63-29 victory. Will Lakota East repeat their success, or does Hamilton have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
