Volleyball Recap: Cornerstone Family Takes a Loss

Cornerstone Family was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Heritage Christian Eagles. If the Saints were looking for revenge after losing 3-0 to the Eagles when the teams met back in September of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

While Cornerstone Family ultimately came up short, they really made Heritage Christian work, particularly in the fourth set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 21-25, 25-18, 22-25, 26-24, 16-14.

Molly Riddle paced Cornerstone Family's offense, picking up seven kills. Riddle got some help from Kinsley Juedes and her seven assists. Riddle also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Abby Anderson, racking up four apiece.

Cornerstone Family's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cornerstone Family will head out to face off against Veritas Christian on Monday. As for Heritage Christian, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Shawnee Mission Christian at 5:30 p.m. on September 5.
