Baseball Recap: Bossier Beats Southwood for Their Fifth Straight Victory

Bossier waltzed into their matchup on Friday with four straight wins... but they left with five. Everything went their way against the Southwood Cowboys as they made off with a 16-2 win. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 14-4 last Tuesday.

Connor Tugwell made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Tugwell was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and one triple. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

In other batting news, Logan Bamburg was a standout: he scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of Bossier's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-3 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Armani Mobley, who scored three runs and stole four bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Bossier always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .684. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .531 or higher in five consecutive contests.

Bossier pushed their record up to 9-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.3 runs over those games. As for Southwood, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-16.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bossier will head out to take on Loyola College Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Southwood, they will venture away from home to challenge Doyline at 11:00 p.m. on Saturday.
