Valor Academy managed to slip by Triumph Charter the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. Valor Academy came up short against Triumph Charter on Thursday, falling 12-1. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, Valor Academy couldn't push the score so high this time.
Samuel Herrejon made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 1-for-1 with three stolen bases. Jorge Roman was another key player, scoring a run and stealing three bases.
Meanwhile, Lakeview Charter came up short against Sun Valley Magnet on Friday and fell 8-3. The defeat continues a trend for the Lions in their meetings with the Pioneers: they've now lost four in a row.
Eric Perez put in work no matter where he played. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those zero hits allowed gave him a new career-low. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing four bases while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2024.
Perez wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Angel Vazquez, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base. Vazquez has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Brian Calderon also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
Valor Academy's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Lakeview Charter, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 4-4.
Lakeview Charter's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Valor Academy hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .323. It's a different story for Lakeview Charter, though, as they've only averaged .179. Will they be able to contain Valor Academy's hitters?
