Softball Game Preview: Colonial Beach Drifters vs. Lancaster Red Devils

Colonial Beach is 2-8 against Lancaster since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Drifters will head out on the road to challenge the Red Devils at 7:30 p.m. Colonial Beach has given up an average of 15.1 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Colonial Beach is headed into Monday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 12th straight game on Thursday. They came up short against Northumberland, falling 16-1.

Lancaster came out on top against Hopewell on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive nine-run third inning. The Red Devils never let the Blue Devils get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory. Considering the Red Devils have won eight matches by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Elizabeth Keyser was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kynleigh Wilson, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run.

Colonial Beach's loss dropped their record down to 2-13. As for Lancaster, they now have a winning record of 10-9.

Colonial Beach beat Lancaster 8-4 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Drifters since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
