Baseball Recap: St. Mary's Springs Takes Down Kohler in a Playoff Battle

With a playoff win on the line, St. Mary's Springs rose to the challenge on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Kohler Blue Bombers as they made off with an 11-4 victory. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Ledgers' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Ben Anderson made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with three RBI and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Max Sadownikow, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with five stolen bases and three runs. Those five stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kale Krusick, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

St. Mary's Springs is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-11 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.2 runs over those games. As for Kohler, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 15-9-1.
