Volleyball Recap: East Wilkes Comes Up Short at Home Against East Surry

East Wilkes unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of East Surry by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. The defeat continues a trend for East Wilkes in their meetings with East Surry: they've now lost five in a row.

East Wilkes was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made East Surry work for it, especially in the first set. The final score came out to 26-24, 21-25, 25-13, 23-25, 15-11.

Olivia Staley paced East Wilkes' offense, picking up 13 kills. Staley got some help from Leila Dobbins and her 25 assists. Bailey Stanley controlled things from the service line, finishing with six aces.

East Wilkes wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 3-1 loss against Mount Airy on the 14th. As for East Surry, they have also already played their next game, a 3-0 defeat against West Forsyth on the 13th.
