League recap: Deerfield extends undefeated streak to 15 games

Deerfield (20-1, 11-1) has won 15 games in a row, Trailways - South's longest active win streak. Three of those wins came in the past week, including an 11-3 win over Montello. The team's hottest hitter over the past week was Brandon Ehrke, who had five hits and drove in three runs.

The Demons made the biggest jump in the national rankings, moving from 5027 to 4083 thanks to a 3-0 record over the past week. Deerfield is currently No. 62 in the state of Wisconsin, with an overall record of 20-1.

Johnson Creek led the league with 31 runs scored this week, but Pardeeville still holds the season lead with 225 runs.

The Demons had a league-high 14 steals as a team this week, but still trail Hustisford/Dodgeland, which has 90 on the year, for the season lead. Ben Hildebrandt leads Deerfield with 17 swipes so far this season.

The Bluejays' Justin Walling finished his week with six hits, tops in the league. His 32 hits for the year are third in the league, and he boasts a .451 batting average.



Justin Walling went 4-5 as Johnson Creek defeated Williams Bay 16-2 on Wednesday. He also drove in two runners and scored two runs.
