Grand Valley's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They blew past Champion 8-0. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won six games by six runs or more so far this season.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Chalker ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They walked away with a 12-8 victory over Mathews. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Wildcats' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.
T,J, Williams was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. Williams was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. Those runs marked the first that he has scored this season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Tegun Noble, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Logan Smallsreed was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and three runs.
Chalker was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .450. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Chalker's win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-5. As for Grand Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 7-2.
