Softball Recap: Gardiner Starts off Right with Win over Erskine Academy

Gardiner took care of business in their home opener on Monday. They came out on top against the Erskine Academy Eagles by a score of 15-11. The Tigers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Eagles, too.

The team relied heavily on BRYNLEA CHAISSON, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was ZOEY SULLIVAN-BRENNAN, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Gardiner was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .514. Their batting average was a full 0 higher than the also-impressive .387 that Erskine Academy posted.

Erskine Academy now has a losing record of 1-2.

Looking ahead, Gardiner will face off against Leavitt at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Erskine Academy, they will head out to square off against Morse at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Shipbuilders have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.75 runs per game on average), something the Eagles will no doubt try to take advantage of.
