Basketball Recap: Ida Baker Makes It Three in a Row on the Road

If Canterbury wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Ida Baker, they should've done a better job of containing Brendan Slack. The Bulldogs enjoyed a cozy 65-48 victory over the Cougars on Tuesday for which the team can thank Slack, who went 13-for-27 to rack up 30 points in addition to eight rebounds and five steals. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 2.1 steals per game.

Ricky Fernandez was another key player, shooting 46% from the field en route to 15 points along with seven boards and five assists. He is on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 46% in the last six games he's played.

Several Cougars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Josh Benbenisty, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Benbenisty also put up two blocks, which were his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Tye Swetz, who posted six points and three steals.

Ida Baker's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-3. As for Canterbury, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-5.

Ida Baker wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 73-27 victory against Island Coast on the 11th. As for Canterbury, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 59-48 win against Bradenton Christian on the 12th.
