Christian Ramirez made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jiovani Barajas, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. Christopher Valdez was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.
Adams City hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Aurora Central struck out eight times.
Adams City pushed their record up to 6-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Overland, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-7.
Adams City's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Overland hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .330. It's a different story for Adams City, though, as they've only averaged .256. Will they be able to contain Overland's hitters?
