Softball Recap: Pekin Comes Up Short

If Pekin was feeling good fresh off their 13-0 takedown of Danville on Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Dragons fell just short of the East Peoria Raiders by a score of 4-2 on Tuesday. The loss continues a trend for the Dragons in their meetings with the Raiders: they've now lost three in a row.

Zoe Lindahl put in work while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Lindahl wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jaeleigh Decker, who went 1-for-4 with one double.

Pekin's defeat dropped their record down to 8-7. As for East Peoria, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-9 record this season.

Pekin will face off against Lincoln at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Dragons are facing the Railsplitters at the right time seeing as the Railsplitters are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for East Peoria, they will head out to challenge Canton at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Raiders' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Little Giants have averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season.
