Basketball Recap: Jackson Takes a Loss

Jackson lost against Braddock back in January of 2016 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Jackson Generals took a 67-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Braddock Bulldogs. The Generals' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it five in a row.

Braddock was led to victory by Ray Estay and Luca De La Paz. Estay went 7 for 15 en route to 19 points and three steals, while De La Paz dropped a double-double on 22 points and 17 rebounds. The dominant performance gave De La Paz a new career-high in boards. Another player making a difference was Liano Lacayo, who posted eight points.

Jackson's loss dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Braddock, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-11.

Jackson and Braddock could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings. Jackson (ranked 296th) will meet Central (ranked 33rd) at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Braddock will take on Sarasota at 8:00 p.m. on Friday down 426 places (473 vs. 47).
