Volleyball Recap: Erie Takes a Loss

Erie was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 2-0 to the Girard Trojans. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Trojans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-1 two weeks ago.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-14, 25-18.

Despite the loss, Erie still got an impressive performance from Lillee Gawel, who had 22 digs. Gawel has been hot recently, having posted 11 or more digs the last three times she's played. Ashley Richenburg also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.

Erie's defeat dropped their record down to 14-12. As for Girard, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-10 record this season.

Erie wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 2-0 loss against Labette County on the 4th. As for Girard, they have also already played their next contest, a 2-1 victory against Chanute on the 4th.
