Basketball Recap: Vance County Makes It Three in a Row on the Road

Vance County had won two straight road games and Tyshawn Alston did his part to make it three on Friday. The Vance County Vipers secured a 63-59 W over the Bunn Wildcats thanks in part to Alston, who shot 4-for-4 from long range and dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten boards. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in blocks (three).

Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was DJ Smith, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 steals. Smith has become a key player for Bunn: the team is 5-2 when he posts at least three steals, but 0-4 otherwise. Another player making a difference was CJ Kearney, who posted 16 points in addition to five assists and three steals.

Vance County's win bumped their record up to 3-6. As for Bunn, they now have a losing record at 5-6.

Vance County wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 60-56 defeat against Corinth Holders on the 28th. As for Bunn, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 64-56 victory against J.F. Webb on the 30th.
