Basketball Recap: Sydney Miller's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Cardinal Stritch over Lima Central Catholic

Cardinal Stritch came up into this matchup off a tough 31-point loss last Saturday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Lima Central Catholic Thunderbirds by a score of 42-40 on Monday. The Cardinals' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it four in a row.

Several Cardinals players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Sydney Miller, who went 6 for 13 on her way to 14 points and six steals. Miller has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Makayla (KK) Miltz was another key player, putting up 13 points and three steals.

Even though they lost, Cardinal Stritch smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in four consecutive matches.

Cardinal Stritch's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Lima Central Catholic, their victory ended a 12-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-7.

Cardinal Stritch wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 50-21 defeat against Toledo Christian on the 3rd. As for Lima Central Catholic, they will look to defend their home court on January 7th against Ada at 6:00 p.m.
