Baseball Game Preview: Vista PEAK Prep Bison vs. Grandview Wolves

The Vista PEAK Prep Bison will face off against the Grandview Wolves at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Vista PEAK Prep has given up an average of 6.7 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Vista PEAK Prep fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Eaglecrest on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 13-10 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Raptors. The Bison have struggled against the Raptors recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Brody Brancato was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-5 with four RBI and one triple. Royce Lossman also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Meanwhile, Grandview entered their tilt with Grand Junction on Saturday with six consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with seven. They put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 9-0 win. Considering the Wolves have won six games by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Grandview also got a great performance from Josiah Giron as he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Matthew Schimberg, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Chase Chapman was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Grandview's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Vista PEAK Prep, their loss dropped their record down to 4-6.
