Basketball Recap: Morton Ranch's Luck Changes for the Better on Friday

Morton Ranch came into Friday's contest having lost six straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They came out on top against the Paetow Panthers by a score of 47-37 on Friday. This was a revenge game for the Mavericks: when they faced off against the Panthers back in December of 2024, they had to take a 57-26 loss.

Morton Ranch's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-11 and their overall record up to 6-22. As for Paetow, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-15 record this season.

Morton Ranch and Paetow could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Morton Ranch (ranked 889th) will meet Tompkins (ranked 209th) at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Morton Ranch is out to stop a five-game streak of losses at home. Similarly, Paetow will face off against Cinco Ranch at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday down 478 places (560 vs. 82).
