Football Recap: Southside Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Somerset, Southside was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They came out on top against the Central Catholic Buttons by a score of 28-15. For the Cardinals, this counts as revenge for the 62-0 win the Buttons walked away with the last time they faced one another back in September of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Central Catholic lost, don't look at Antonio Guevarra. Despite the final result, he picked up 124 receiving yards and one score. Guevarra was no stranger to the big play, lighting up the secondary with a catch that went for 61 yards.

The victory got Southside back to even at 1-1. As for Central Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 1-1.

Coming up, Southside will head out to square off against Cigarroa at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. This will be the Cardinals' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Central Catholic, they will square off against Holy Cross at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
