Kalamazoo Christian had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They blew past the Lawton Blue Devils 17-5 on Friday. The Comets haven't had any issues with the Blue Devils recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.

Carien Ybema was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits (and not a single walk). Ybema was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.
