Volleyball Game Preview: Palatine Pirates vs. Wheeling Wildcats

The Palatine Pirates will venture away from home to challenge the Wheeling Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Palatine is coming into the match hot, having won their last six games.

On Tuesday, Palatine was able to grind out a solid win over Schaumburg, taking the game 2-0.

Palatine easily took the first set, but they let things get interesting in the other. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-10, 25-19.

Meanwhile, after a string of five wins, Wheeling's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell just short of Elk Grove by a score of 2-1.

In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Wheeling sadly dropped the once that decided the match. The final score came out to 25-23, 21-25, 25-19.

Wheeling's loss dropped their record down to 16-9. As for Palatine, their victory bumped their record up to 20-4.

Palatine came out on top in a nail-biter against Wheeling in their previous meeting back in September, sneaking past 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pirates since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
