Basketball Game Preview: Palma Chieftains vs. Summit Shasta Black Bears

The Palma Chieftains will take on the Summit Shasta Black Bears at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Palma is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They blew past Crystal Springs Uplands 61-37. Given the Chieftains' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 254th in California, while the Gryphons are ranked 735th in California), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Summit Shasta came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with 13 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 34.8 points), and they left with even more momentum. They breezed past the Condor to the tune of 74-42.

Summit Shasta's win was their 20th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 22-3. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 37 points. As for Palma, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-6 record this season.
